School Aged

Aquatots School age program has been developed for children who have commenced kindergarten through to those that are 12 years of age.

Children in the school age program are split by swimming ability and taught to swim in small group classes. The program has been tried and tested and encourages children to work with their natural buoyancy.

Each child is an individual and will learn at their own pace, our qualified, award winning instructors deliver the program in a way that will maximise your child's swimming time within their class which makes for a quicker progression.

Children in Dolphin 2 can float front and back unassisted and have moved onto propulsion. They will learn propulsion through effective kick techniques and underwater pull strokes. At this level children also learn basic breath control.

All four strokes are taught at once to allow children to demonstrate what stroke they will excel in. Development of all strokes is encouraged at this stage.

To graduate from Dolphin 2 children must be able to propel on their front roll to their back using correct breath technique and continue propulsion on their back

Dolphins 3

Children in Dolphins 3 have gained basic breath control and can propel front and back. They will be moving onto basic strokes for freestyle, backstroke, butterfly and breaststroke.

Dolphin 3 level will teach children to co-ordinate arm and leg movements to propel through the water. Strong long arm strokes will be encouraged to create a smooth movement.

To Graduate form Dolphin 3 level children must demonstrate basic freestyle with a roll to breath and basic backstroke with correct body roll along with a jump & self rescue onto their back. If your child is a natural breaststroker they will be demonstrating basic breaststroke to graduate.

Dolphins 4 & Mini Dolphin 4's

Dolphin 4 level is for children aged 7 to 12 years that can demonstrate the basics of freestyle and backstroke. They will be moving onto the technical freestyle to include correct side breathing and technical backstroke.

If your child is a natural breaststroker they will learn breaststroke timing at this stage. Basic breaststroke and butterfly will be continued throughout this level for all students in preparation for the last two levels of the program.

Mini Dolphin 4 level is for children 5 to 7 years of age. These children are at the same swimming ability as Dolphin 4's but are grouped together to allow for student comfort and swimming development

To graduate from Dolphin 4 and Mini Dolphin 4's children must demonstrate correct technique for freestyle and backstroke over the required distance for the age group or correct breaststroke timing over a distance for natural breaststrokers. If your child is in Mini Dolphins 4 and turns 7 but is yet to master the required skills to progress to the next level they will move into the Dolphin 4 class so they can be with the correct age group.
