Every child deserves to feel safe, respected, and supported — in and out of the water.

At Aquatots, your child’s safety and wellbeing come first.

We’re committed to creating a swim school where every child feels secure, valued, and cared for — whether they’re taking their first splash or swimming strong.

Our Child Safe Practices

Every Aquatots class and centre operates with care, consistency, and accountability.

We follow the National Principles for Child Safe Organisations and comply with ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) and NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC) requirements.

We maintain:

Active supervision of all children in and around the pool.

Safe instructor-to-student ratios for individual attention.

Clear behaviour and communication guidelines built on respect.

Professional boundaries between staff and students.

A clear reporting process — every concern is taken seriously and managed in line with our Child Protection and Reporting Procedures.

“Safety isn’t just what we teach — it’s how we operate every day.”

Consent and Participation

We believe every child and family has the right to make informed choices about participation.

Parental or guardian consent is required for all enrolments, photography, and media use.

Our instructors are trained to recognise verbal and non-verbal cues and will always seek a child’s consent before any hands-on support. This helps children learn that their personal boundaries matter — and that they’ll always be respected.

Families are encouraged to share feedback or questions at any time. We value open communication — it helps us create the best experience for your child.

Our Team Qualifications

Aquatots teachers are experienced, caring professionals — fully trained and certified to the highest standards.

Every instructor holds:

  • Current WWVP card or WWCC clearance.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (as required for their role).
  • Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification.
  • Ongoing professional development in safeguarding, inclusion, and water safety education.

Our team leaders and managers complete additional child protection and leadership training to ensure accountability and quality across every site.

Safeguarding Our Young Team Members

We’re proud to employ and mentor young people beginning their careers in aquatics — and we safeguard them just as carefully as we do our students.

For our under-18 team members, we ensure:

  • Clear guidance on safe workplace conduct and boundaries.
  • A Team Leader or adult supervisor is always present during shifts.
  • Access to safe, confidential reporting pathways.
  • Parents or guardians are kept informed and invited to support their child’s journey as part of our team.

Our Commitment

Creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing swim school community is at the heart of Aquatots.

We continually review our policies, training, and facilities to ensure we meet — and exceed — our child safety obligations.

If you ever have questions or concerns about child safeguarding, please speak with your Site Manager or email enquiries@aquatots.com.au.

“Together, we’re building a safer, more confident generation — one swim at a time.”
