Aquatots: Steps of progression

Babies

Perri Winkle: Infants aged 6-12 months.
(7 per class)

Angel Fish: Infants aged 12-24 months.
(7 per class)

Fairy Penguins : Infants aged 24-32 months.
(7 per class)

Sea Squirts : Infants aged 24-32 months who are independent in water and need extra extending.
(7 per class)

Pre-school

Octopus Bronze: Children aged 3-5 years with little or no water experience and are developing their water confidence. Skills gained at this level include  floating  independently on their front and back.
(Class maximum 3 per class)

Octopus Silver: Children aged 3-5 years who are comfortable in the water and who can already float on their front and back. Skills gained at  this level are the ability to flutter kickcorrectly on their front and back.
(Class maximum 3 per class)

OctopusGold: Children aged 3-5 years who are readyto learn correct stroke technique. When children start kindergarten they graduate to the Aquatots School Age program.

School Aged

Frogs: Children aged 5 years and over with limited water experience and who are developing their water confidence. Skills gained at this level are floating on their front and back.
(Class maximum 4 per class)

 

Turtles: Children aged 5 years and over who are ready to learning flutter kick on their front and back.
(Class maximum 4 per class)

Dolphins: Children aged 5 years and over who are ready to learn their freestyle arms, backstroke arms and basic breathing techniques.
(Class maximum 4 per class)

Mini Sharks: Children aged 5-8 years and over who are ready to learn technical freestyle and backstroke.
(Class maximum 5 per class) 

Sharks: Children aged 8 years and over who are ready to learn technical freestyle and backstroke.
(Class maximum 5 per class)

Whales: Children who have mastered freestyle and backstroke and are ready to learn butterfly and breaststroke. Skills gained at this level are the ability to swim  all four competitive strokes.
